Microsoft is planning to make Windows 8 an 128-bit operating system, according to details leaked from the software giant’s Research department.
The discovery came to light after Microsoft Research employee, Robert Morgan, carelessly left details of his work on the social-networking site, LinkedIn.

This is not a huge surprise, but very early to be talking about a 128 bit OS. As far as I know there are only design plans for the hardware needed for a 128 bit operating system. Something that is surprising is how quick the jump from 64 bit to 128 bit is considering the slow adoption of 64 bit from 32 bit and other legacy systems.
