My new CD/DVD burner

I recently purchases the LITE-ON Black 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 24X DVD Writer LightScribe Support from newegg.com: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106335. It writes DVD and CD faster then my previous CD/DVD burner did and I have had no errors with it so far. I think the increase in speed is because it is connected with Sata instead of IDE, but still a noticeable difference. When I built my current computer I did not purchase a Sata CD/DVD burner because of the cost and I already had an IDE CD/DVD burner laying around. If you burn a lot of CD or DVD I would recommend getting a Sata connected CD/DVD burner like this one. The 24x DVD write speed is amazing if you have the media to write that fast. I used some older 16x DVD media and it wrote faster then my previous burner that could write at 16x max. I can not wait to try out some 24x DVD media. I wrote a full 70 minute CD with the 48x CD-R burning in less then 2 minutes. That makes burning CD fast and easy. I am all out of LightScribe media or I would have tested out how fast it can burn a label into a CD/DVD. I used Nero burning Rom to burn all my CD/DVD with speed and ease.

The Idiots Guide to Holding the iPhone 4

If you haven’t heard the Iphone 4 has some reception problems when using your full hand to hold the phone then now you know. This is because Apple designed the phone to use the case as an antenna. If you know how wireless signals travel you know they don’t travel well through peoples skin and not very well if a majority of the antenna is covered up. Well turns out that some people’s hands are big enough to cover a majority of the phone up when holding it next to their ear. Her is a handy sheet that gives tips on how to hold your phone when making calls with the Iphone 4.

Intel says farewell to PCI bus

“Soon another technology that in past years dominated the always changing universe of computer hardware will bite the dust. That’s the decision by Intel, the merciless executioner of standards that the company itself imposes on the market. In upcoming months it will end official support for the PCI bus. Developed by the chipmaker in 1993, the PCI Local Bus standard was implemented on all motherboards for x86 and compatible platforms until 2004, the year it passed the baton to the younger and faster PCI Express technology.”

Internet Speed Test: The Fastest ISPs in the U.S. 2010

Is your Web browsing as fast as it could be? Fifteen years after Microsoft introduced Internet Explorer to compete with Netscape Navigator, there are still browser wars going on, as Microsoft, Mozilla, Google, Apple, and others compete to create the software that loads Web pages the fastest. But the number one factor in page load speed (or any kind of download) isn’t your browser. It’s your Internet service provider (ISP). After all, a Web page can’t finish loading until all the bits arrive.

8 signs a geek has too much money

Can anyone really have too much money? I don’t think so, but if you do and you like extravagant things here are some you should have. These are gears more towards geeks and geek gadgets. I am not sure I would really want most of these to be honest but if given to me I would not turn them down.
