Like Monopoly in the Depression, Settlers of Catan is the board game of our time

Like Monopoly in the Depression, Settlers of Catan is the board game of our time. I first played Settlers of Catan in college around 2003 with some friends of mine and had a blast. I do not think I won a game or even came in second but I had fun playing it. I practiced online where they have many java versions of the game but it was not the same as playing with my friends and just enjoying the time we spent together. If you are in the market for a new and excited board game I would definitely check Settlers of Catan out. The Washington Post wrote up a nice article on how Settlers of Catan is the Monopoly of our era. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/11/24/AR2010112404140.html

I would like to add a new special board game that my wife and I enjoy playing with our friends. It is called “Kill Doctor Lucky” it is supposed to be a pre-cursor to “Clue.” The game is turn based where Doctor lucky moves at the end of each turn. The object of the game is to kill Doctor Lucky. Doctor Lucky moves from room to room and if you get in the same room, are alone, and nobody can see you with Doctor Lucky you can try to kill him either by poking him in the eye or more violent ways with murder cards. Opposing players try to stop the murders with save cards. Each time a player is stopped from murdering Doctor Lucky he is given a attempted murder token which makes his next murder attempt one more save card more powerful. There are several ways to murder Doctor Lucky with more powerful murder weapons costing more save cards to save Doctor Lucky. There is a bit of strategy on where and how to kill Doctor lucky that really makes the game fun each time you play. There are some murder cards that double in power if they are in certain rooms of the house for example. The games are do not take very long because there are only a limited number of save cards each round. Here is a link to the game on amazon.com.
